The Cataract Canyon Adventure

Cataract Canyon is the famed adventure of American river trips! Cataract Canyon means rapids as intense and exciting as those youd find in the Grand Canyon. These are John Wesley Powells rapids. Travel through red canyons on 100 miles of river, sometimes at a heart-thumping pace, sometimes as lazy as the sun moving across the sky.

White water rafting and solitude is the reason to select Cataract Canyon. The unparalleled attention to your comfort is the reason to trust only Tag-A-Long Expeditions your rafting vacations.

The Tag-A-Long/Cataract Canyon River Magic

While these rafting vacations are the ultimate in wilderness expeditions, all Cataract Canyon white water rafting trips are designed with your comfort and pleasure in mind. We want camping to be untroubled and content. We don't want you struggling with tent poles, or sleeping on rocky terrain that plagues your back the next day. With Tag-A-Long Expeditions, you'll enjoy our guides' instruction and assistance erecting tents and sleep on a cushy mattress while snuggled in name brand sleeping bag (if you intend to rent from Tag-A-Long). On our expeditions, you won't be eating off a driftwood log or sitting in the sand. On all J-rig trips, we bring along tables and chairs to make wilderness dining as enchanting as that of a favorite restaurant, only the Colorado River flows by! On the slower, flat water stretches of the river, you won't bake in the desert sun unless you want to. Shade canopies are placed over J-rig rafts to protect you from the sun's harmful rays. It's the extra measure of care that sets Tag-A-Long apart from other companies.

Concerned about private matters in the backcountry? There's no need to worry about finding a bush tall enough, or to be at all anxious about personal breaks. Private, tented toilet facilities take the worry out of wilderness life. Mornings are fairly leisurely and facilities are made available at lunch. Remember, while in the backcountry with Tag-A-Long Expeditions, you are in the care of professional guides who are sensitive to concerns and trained in wilderness living and medicine. There isn't a question they haven't heard or a need that they won't try to discreetly accommodate.

Return options

1. Return by land. The ride from Hite Marina on Lake Powell to Moab takes about four hours through the high desert country of southeastern Utah. Your arrival in Moab will be about 9:00 p.m. The cost is $73.54.

2. We strongly recommend a scenic charter flight. Fly over the Colorado River including some of the rapids just conquered and, from an altitude of 7,000 feet, really see the amazing formations in the Maze, Island and Needles sections of Canyonlands National Park and where your rafting vacation took place. The flight is about 30 minutes making arrival time in Moab about 5:30 p.m. This once-in-a-lifetime flight is only $105.00.

3. Tag-A-Long will shuttle your vehicles from Moab to Hite Marina on Lake Powell so it will be waiting for you when you arrive at the marina early in the afternoon. The cost of this service is $231.77 per vehicle.
