Not long enough? Consider Green River Family Style (Gk4) or Quick Green River in May and June (GK2) or San Juan

Perhaps you weren't even considering camping this vacation. Moab adventures begin with spontaneity. An affordable overnight camping rafting adventure could easily replace a night in a hotel. Get your kids camping, away from the electronics, under the stars, mix in water and you have a recipe for an indelible family fun vacation memory. Tag-A-Long guides are with you at every stroke to provide instruction, tips or give you a break on the "mother raft." Younger children ride in the company of our guide on the big raft, parents and teenagers tend to like the challenge of going it on their own or little ones sit between loved ones on the inflatable kayak to bask in togetherness! As far as river rafting trips go Moab Adventures should include this option for the active family.

The Big Picture of Family river rafting

Close to Moab runs the Colorado River. Typically a stretch of river enjoyed as a day trip, however, join an opportunity to truly slow down to the pace of the river. Drink when you are thirsty, eat when the guide serves the meals, pay close attention to your loved ones and PLAY! We do not tackle a lot of river miles on purpose. There are good-natured rapids, easy to paddle, rolling and playful in their disposition yet give eager students the opportunity to learn to read and negotiate the river to maximize your Moab adventures. You can choose your own vessel, too: inflatable kayak, family paddle raft or the "mother" raft.

There are some stipulations for boat assignments that will require a closer look with your reservation. One inflatable per three to five participants is provided for the entire trip to share. Should you prefer to have an inflatable exclusively, you are required to rent.

The Moab Adventures Details

Day 1 – Lunch & Dinner
You meet at Tag-A-Long’s Moab ut office at 8:30 a.m. After a drive to the river, the expedition begins with a thorough safety discussion and instructions on handling your boat. This first day you’ll have an opportunity to get into the river as we float through a nice calm water stretch. Watch for Mule deer, jackrabbit, Great Blue Heron and Ravens living in this riparian belt. You’ll get basic paddling practice so you’ll be ready for the rapids tomorrow. It is always fun to explore a sand bar and make mud castles. Tonight we will set up camp as guides teach you and your family how to pitch tents, and learn about other camp systems. Dinner is our treat, a surprisingly delicious outdoor meal prepared by your guides. In the meantime, family fun continues: play Frisbee, horseshoes, or just relax by the riverside.

Day 2 Breakfast & Lunch
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll hit the river and splash right into the bulk of the rapids today. The river rafting starts out small so you can slowly build your confidence. If you decide you don’t want to paddle, you can always ride the support raft with the guide.

You’ll enjoy more rapids, some more calm water and playful riffles. After lunch we arrive at our take-out point where vehicles will be waiting to drive us back to conclude an outstanding Moab adventure. You should arrive about 4:30 p.m. at the Tag-A-Long office.
